My all time favorite Christmas CD that I play every year is the Home Alone 1 soundtrack. I also really enjoy the Charlie Brown Christmas cd but the songs sound more depressing than happy on occasion

Vic Rattler

Wow, that is a really interesting idea!

Bean, you should have taken the opportunity to end the post with lyrics like you used to.

That's a really interesting contest, actually. If I had any talent at writing music/lyrics and singing, I'd take a crack at it.

I don't have a favorite Christmas album, as I tend to have loyalties to just songs, rather than to a particular artist. Call me old...but "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "The 12 Days of Christmas" are my two absolute favorites. As for artists though...I do have to say that the new Josh Groban "Noel" CD rocks pretty hard. :)

Bean,

I love you and this song.

Oh, how I love Christmas music! My husband and i listen to all year long too. What is really exciting to me this year is that my father and brother are living in Africa, so I finally got the answer to the very important Band-Aid question...Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Geo

What a great tune, but for the subject matter
I still would have to go with Kinko the Clown
by Ogden Edsel. Christmasie? Mmmmmmm not so much.

bigdaddy

what the hell does jesus have to do with christmas????

One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time is Frank Sinatra's "Jingle Bells." I love those J-I-N-G-L-E Bells, ooo...

Target has Christmas music on sale this week - everything from Elvis to Amy Grant. :)

Stephanie

bean have you ever worked at a radio station where they made you play all christmas music from thanksgiving until the new year? because that will slap the holiday love right out of you!

daughter

that's my fave of sufjan's, too. very pretty melody for such a disturbing subject matter.

boo loves xmas music just as much as we do - he likes to fall asleep to older ballads.

p.s., yay for tater tot fridays being back. she's the best.

As a fellow Krimma Muzik aficionado, I can assure y'all that the El Vez Christmas albums are fan-freakin'-tastic... "En El Barrio" in particular. Rudy Ray Moore's "This Ain't No White Christmas" is also a spectacular album.

(My dream is to someday have a Krimma Muzik dance-off with you, Bean....)

Jennifer

Hi Bean, I highly recommend John Denver's Rocky Mountain Christmas - it's a keeper!

I love your Santa Koss! The Koss HQ in Milwaukee is right next to a freeway. There is a huge billboard on top with an ever-changing array of beings wearing Koss headphones: KingKong, Einstein, MonaLisa, a hippo...even Santa! There is always some clever tagline.
My very-best-favorite Xmas album of all time is "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians.

Hey Bean,
Just catching up on the new blog. I have the perfect Christmas song for you. It's "Christmas in LA" by the BOBS (the world's premire 'new wave' a cappella group. It combines your love of Christmas music and your hatred of "the bad place."

Check it out when you get a chance.
